The VFW Post 759 Honor Guard is an active ceremonial unit serving Kearney and the surrounding area. Its members help ensure veterans receive the recognition and final honors they have earned through their military service.
Providing a dignified final tribute to deceased veterans and supporting their families during committal and memorial services.
Presenting and honoring the national colors at approved ceremonies, patriotic observances and community events throughout the Kearney area.
Representing Post 759 and area veterans during parades, memorial observances and other appropriate public ceremonies.
Providing military honors is among the most solemn and meaningful duties performed by the Post 759 Honor Guard. These ceremonies recognize a veteran’s honorable service and offer a final expression of gratitude on behalf of a grateful nation.
Families, funeral homes and event organizers should contact Kim Deyo as early as possible. Participation depends upon the nature of the request, scheduling and the availability of Honor Guard members.
Post 759 is seeking military members and family members who are willing to help provide veterans with their final honors and support other ceremonial activities in the Kearney area.
You do not have to be a member of the VFW to serve with the Honor Guard or Color Guard. If you are dependable, respectful and interested in serving veterans and the community, contact Kim to learn more.
The Honor Guard is staffed by volunteers. Ceremonial requests are considered according to the type of event, location, schedule and availability of participating members. Contacting Kim early provides the best opportunity to coordinate support.
